Spouse boot camp: battle buddies on the home front
Army Communi- ty Service will conduct a two-day Spouse Boot Camp, May 6 from 9 a.m. until 3p.m. at the Family Outreach Center, building 33512 (behind Woodworth Library) and May 7 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Pointes West Army Resort in Appling, Ga.
The boot camp will provide information on strengthening relationships, positive lifestyle changes, improving communication and yes, there is also an obstacle course to complete. The boot camp is free to spouses of active duty, mobilized or activated service members. Spouses must possess a valid ID card.
Participants will stand side-by-side with other spouses. Together you’ll navigate the hurt, you’ll navigate the pain, you’ll navigate the system and get answers to the “WIIFM” (what’s in it for me?). You will be lectured, you willl laugh out loud and you will be doing some heavy lifting.
Priority will be given to spouses whose service members are preparing to deploy, are already deployed or who have recently returned from deployment. Participation in day one activities is a prerequisite for day two.
Transportation from Fort Gordon to the Pointes West Army Resort will be provided. Pick up and drop off will take place in the parking lot of Darling Hall. Sneakers and comfortable clothing is strongly recommended for day two as some climbing activity will take place.
Childcare costs are also covered. Children must use and be registered with the Child Youth and School Services. Reservations for care and registration are the responsibility of the parent. All costs will be paid by ACS. To make reservations for childcare and/or register your children, please contact CYSS directly at 791-4722/7062. Registration forms are available online at https://webrac. mwr.army/mil/webtrac/ gordoncyms.html. You may login or sign-in as a guest; see menu option ‘forms/ links’. Deadline for childcare registration is April 22.
