Fort Gordon Retiree Council Mandatory ACAP counseling Thrift shop
Are you interested in serving on the Fort Gordon Retiree Council? The Fort Gordon Retiree Council is made up of 20 members who are military retirees or the widow/widower of a military retiree. The volunteers meet quarterly for the purpose of presenting issues of a local nature and suggest improvements for the wellbeing of retired Soldiers, family members and survivors to the Fort Gordon Garrison Command and to the chief of staff of the Army’s Retiree Council at Department of the Army. All Soldiers, with more than 180 consecutive days of active duty service, must receive an ACAP pre-separation briefing, and complete DD Form 2648 or 2648-1, no later than 12 months prior to separating or retiring from the Army. Retiring Soldiers can complete the pre-separation briefing up to two years prior to their projected retirement date. The briefing covers available transition services, rights, and benefits. The pre-separation briefing may be done at the ACAP center or online at www.acap.army.mil. Soldiers must use their AKO user name and password to login to the website and complete the briefing. The Fort Gordon Thrift Shop is open for anyone to shop 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Consignment for DoD ID holders is 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Also open the first Saturday of each month 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a wide selection of furniture, toys, books, electronics and clothing, in need of donations.
