It’s a long ride to raise awareness

Army veteran and long-distance bicyclist Tom Von Kaenel, freshly arrived at Fort Gordon en route to Key West and then looking to head for Juneau, Alaska, July 4, meets Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Madison, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, and Staff Sgt. Peter Maxfield, Department of Information Security Agency (Europe) March 4 at Darling Hall. Von Kaenel expressed his faith and his thankfulness for America’s military as he prepares for a transcontinental bike ride, looking “to raise national and international awareness of our Soldiers’ sacrifices, the sacrifices of their families, their friends and their communities in answering the call to war since September 11, 2001.”
