Fort Gordon Public Affairs Office

A media advisory from the Army & Air Force Exchange Service states that Internet service provided by American Warrior Networks Service to military members residing in on-post barracks will remain intact through Sept. 30.

Boingo will be the new on-post Internet provider for military personnel after AWNS ends its contract in the fall.

According to an AAFES statement that was published Feb. 20 AWNS TV and Internet services at Fort Gordon will continue until Sept. 30. Initially AWNS was slated to be discontinued Feb. 20, but an extension was negotiated and as a result there will be no lapse in service.

The new date of the transition from AWNS to Boingo will take effect Oct. 1.

Boingo will offer high-speed Wi-Fi, Internet Protocol-based wireless high definition-TV, enhanced video capability and access to more than one million hotspots around the world.

Boingo will also bring competitive pricing and flexible plans (hourly, daily, weekly and monthly) to Fort Gordon. Additionally, no contracts, hidden fees or cancellation charges are applied and no installation or special equipment is required.
