GRU-Augusta Military Appreciation Day welcomes Fort Gordon service members, new Army inductees

Photo by Bill Bengtson / Fort Gordon Public Affairs Office Service members and their families gathered at Georgia Regent’s University Augusta Christenberry Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon for the school’s annual military appreciation day celebrated during the lady and men’s Jaguar’s basketball games with an official induction ceremony of the Army’s newest local recruits taking place during the men’s game halftime.

Maj. Gen. LaWarren V. Patterson, commanding general Fort Gordon and the U.S. Army Signal Center of Excellence, and Command Sgt. Maj. Ronald S. Pflieger, Regimental Command Sergeant Major, took part in the festivities providing a warm welcome to the Army’s newest Soldiers. The Navy Information Operation’s Command Georgia choir started the event with their singing of the national anthem.
