GRU-Augusta hosts Military Appreciation Day
Georgia Regents University- Augusta’s Jaguars invites veterans, Fort Gordon service members and their families to the fifth annual Military Appreciation Day Feb. 8 at the Christenberry Fieldhouse in Augusta.
All active- duty military members, retirees, and veterans, along with their families, may attend the game free of charge by showing a valid identification card.
The GRU-Augusta‘s Jaguars will be taking on the Young Harris Mountain Lions. The Lady Jaguars, under the guidance of head coach Nate Teyer, start their game at 1:30 p.m. and the men’s Jaguars, under the guidance of head coach Dip Metress, play at 3:30 p.m.
Maj. Gen. LaWarren V. Patterson, the U.S. Army Signal Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon commanding general, and Command Sgt. Maj. Ronald S. Pflieger, the Signal Corps regimental command sergeant major, will administer the enlistment oath during the induction ceremony for a group of approximately 50 new recruits to the Army during the men’s half-time. Also during the half-time Pflieger will lead Soldiers of the 15th Regimental Signal Brigade in reciting the Soldier’s Creed.
The new Army recruits are part of the Future Soldiers training program administered through the U.S. Army Recruiting Company in Augusta.
The Fort Gordon Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation and staff from the Army Community Service will set up a table featuring various events and programs offered at the installation.
The Directorate of Human Resources and the staff the post Army Career and Alumni Program Center will also have a table set up on site with information about upcoming job fairs and the ACAP program.
