Brigade and battalion leaders attend Ready and Resilient Orientation Course

Photo by Bill Bengtson / Fort Gordon Public Affairs Office As a way to inform, educate and inspire service members and their families with the programs available in the ready and resilient campaign, leaders of brigade and battalion command teams gathered Oct. 9 at Nelson Hall to attend a program orientation course.

According to Lt. Gen. Michael Ferriter, commanding general of Installation Management Command, the intent is for IMCOM installations to conduct the Ready and Resilient Orientation Course to provide specific ready and resilient information to brigade and battalion leadership in order for the leaders to inform, educate, and inspire their service and family members to connect with the programs offered as part of the ready and resilient campaign.

The IMCOM statement went on to add that the mission will be considered a success when battalion and brigade leadership have a clear understanding of the location, capabilities, and specific points of contact for the ready and resilient services that are presented in the orientation course on their respective garrisons.

The orientation for military leaders of Fort Gordon was comprised of an all- day session with representatives from supporting agencies. It provided leaders a brief about services available for service and family members and the resources available to leaders.

Opening remarks from Maj. Gen. LaWarren V. Patterson, commanding general of the U.S. Army Signal Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon, included the importance for leaders and agencies to understand that the resources available to assist service members and their families are not only for the Army but for all military personnel and their families who are assigned to the installation.

Representatives from the agencies briefed leaders and answered questions on what services were available to the Fort Gordon community. The following list provides some but not all of the agencies that participated:

• The garrison Directorate of Human Resources (who addressed the Army Substance Abuse Program and the Community Health Promotion Council)

• The garrison Directorate of Public Works ( who addressed the first sergeant’s barracks program)

• Comprehensive Soldier Fitness

• The garrison Army Community Service (who addressed the Exceptional Family Member Program and Master Resiliency Training)

• Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center (who addressed Embedded Behavioral Health)
