IMCOM Hero of the Day
TheHeroofthe day is Heather Howse, school liaison officer for Child, Youth and School Services. Howse demonstrated supreme dedication and loyalty to the CYSS family, the SLS program, and her willingness to see the Adopt- A-School program grow. Personal efforts recognized the importance of strategic planning, mission, and vision to potentially grow the awareness of the Adopt-A-School Program. Efforts enhanced the way that services members supported the community. Her efforts resulted in the Navy’s (NAVICOM) outstanding support of the students of Hephzibah Elementary School in supplementing their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics program. The command worked with the students on weather, properties of matter, and telecommunications; bringing a refreshed excitement to the students, faculty, and the Sailors themselves. Her efforts also resulted in the 35th Signal Brigade’s adoption of the Academy of Richmond County which has been very successful as students in the school’s At-Risk program were able to meet weekly with mentors from the brigade. The weekly meetings proved to the students that not only is education important, but they have someone in their corner. She simultaneously provided outstanding communication with the local schools, the Boards of Education members, the Fort Gordon command, and parents; thus improving the effectiveness of communications and interactions with all. Howse makes a substantial contribution to the continued operation and growth of the organization by performing at a high energy, and producing measurable results. Her dedication to her CYSS team members has proven to be one of her many attributes. She is today the Installation Management Command Hero of the Day.
